The Camp

Horizons for Kids II is a 3 week camp for 13 to 16* years old teenagers.

First days: The summer camp is run in Kingston, Ontario. Children stay in homestay with Canadian families to assure their safety and  24 hour supervision. Living with Canadian families will also help students to improve their English speaking and listening abilities.

Students participate in cultural, sportive and recreational activities during the first week, lead and supervised by our teachers and animators. They will be interacting with Canadian kids of their same age who will be participating in some of the same camps  as them.

During the second week, students attend a ground camp in the Rideau Lakes region. This camp gives them a unique experience in which they balance the love of nature, team spirit and other skills important for their personal development.  Campers participate in several sportive, educational, social and integrative activities run at this camp.

* Sometimes we accept 12 years old students for this camp, depending on their level of maturity.

During their stay at this Ground camp, students will always have extra assistance from our own mentors-ESL tutors - who will spend the week with campers in addition to the staff from the camp. This will assure supervision and help for our young campers.

Students take English classes everyday at our facility while they are in Kingston. We combine amusement, study and entertainment with  trips we have organized to Niagara Falls, Toronto, Ottawa, 1000 Islands and  Montreal.

Arrival and Departure

Campers are picked up at the Toronto airport by our staff who will transport them to Kingston. In Kingston they will meet with their homestay families upon their arrival.

The camp is run from July 11 to 31 , 2010*.  Kids must arrive on July 11 and depart on July 31. If they arrive earlier or leave after those dates there will be an extra charge of $100.00 per day.  In order to avoid these charges we advise that you buy your airlines tickets as soon as possible.

* There may be other dates available. Please inquire with your travel agent or contact us directly. In case the dates above do not fit your schedule we will try to accommodate as much as possible.

Food and Board

We offer a real Canadian experience to our campers allowing them to stay with Canadian families. They will practice more English and they will become more confident. This is also great for parents - who can be in contact with their kids easily.

Food is served in the Canadian way:

1.        Breakfast ( early in the morning, before they leave home)

2.      Lunch to go ( families will prepare a lunch that student will bring to the camp including a couple of snacks)

3.      Supper.  Normally the biggest meal in Canadian society is supper, so kids will enjoy a family supper.

We provide some of the meals on the one-day excursions.  Please be mindful that the kids are visiting another country. They should be open to new experiences, including  trying Canadian food. Homestay families will make every effort to please the kids but it will be almost impossible for them to have the food they are used to in their home countries.

In the house, kids will have access to all facilities, and as all other members of the family, they will have to behave and take care of all the stuff in the house.

English Classes

Children will attend our ESL class everyday. Class will be focused on vocabulary related to their experience in Canada, including all different activities, such as sports, culture, Canadian life style, trips and excursions, etc.  We will help provide the linguistic tools to make the children’s stay and experience in Canada easy and fun.

Trips, excursions and other activities.

Campers will enjoy the following trips/excursions:

1.        Upper Canada Village and/or Hershey Factory

2.      Ottawa (Parliament, Civilizations Museum)
